Welcome!

My intent with this blog is to share my experiences as I delve into the world of personal development. Books, articles, and other media will be the focus of my reviews, with a little real life thrown in. Now if that all sounds too serious, don't fret! I assure you this will be a no-nonsense, average Joe (or Jane) approach to personal growth.

Truth be told, I've been subscribing to a certain line of thought since I was a teenager. It all started with a certain goal-to qualify for the NC Regional swimming competition in the 200 Individual Medley. My mother, being wise beyond her years, suggested I write down the qualifying time over and over again until I could see it in my head on the time clock. This was an important goal to me, so I had no problem committing to the daily ritual. Finally, at the last swim meet of the season (in true Rachael fashion), I was head to head with the girl in the next lane. Determined not to let her win, I was really pushing it-one of those times where your mind and body start to disconnect because your mind wont submit to the pain of your body. I remember the moment clearly even now because it was so powerful. My coach came running over with his stop watch. There, clear as could be, was the time 2:48.

Since then, I have used visualization to achieve a number of goals. Now that personal development is my business as well as a lifestyle choice, I have discovered that there is more to it than just visualization. Visualization is only one tenant of a much larger philosophy. This is where the reading comes in. Just like you, I am learning everyday, and trying to incorporate valuable knowledge into my life. My hope is that you will follow me on my journey, and learn a little something yourself.
